Kurdish Language Researches Unit in cooperation with the Kurdish Language Department Hosts its Second Spring Symposium

In pursuit of its ongoing academic and scientific activities, the Kurdish Language Research Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Kurdish Language at the College of Languages, held its second spring symposium today, April 27, 2026. The event, titled "Narration: Form, Discourse, and Experience," featured a distinguished panel of experts:

1. Short story writer Anwar Mohammed Tahir: "My Vision and Experience in Short Story Writing."
2. Dr. Nafisa Ismail Haji: "The Discourse of Rejection and its Mechanisms in Kurdish Narration."
3. Mr. Abdulkhaliq Sultan: "Distinctions between Narrative Genres: Short Stories and Flash Fiction as Models."

The panel was moderated by Dr. Parwin Raouf Hadi. The participants presented insightful perspectives on creative experiences and theoretical frameworks within the field of narration, specifically focusing on Kurdish literature. Detailed discussions were held regarding the nature of "rejection discourse" and the specific stylistic mechanisms it employs in Kurdish texts.

Furthermore, the symposium analyzed the formal structures of various narrative genres, identifying key differences and similarities—particularly between the short story and flash fiction—supported by representative literary excerpts. The session concluded with an open floor discussion.

At the end of the event, the Dean of the College of Languages, Prof. Dr. Abu Ubaidah Abdullah Diab, honored the panelists with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their valuable scientific contributions.
